The Children's Department has 5 computers for children through sixth grade. Each time a child wants to use a computer, the child must bring his or her own card.These five computers offer filtered access to the Internet. The Internet is a global electronic information network that provides dynamic resources and facilitates communication for its users. The Library does not monitor, censor or control information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. The Internet may contain material of a controversial or mature nature. Parents and guardians of minor children, not the Library staff, are responsible for their children's use of the Internet in the Library. Parents wishing to control the materials to which their children are exposed are expected to provide sufficient supervision of their children to accomplish this. Parents are also encouraged to discuss the issues of netiquette and online safety with their children.
We also offer two early literacy staions for preschool children in the Family Place play area. Four iPads preloaded with children's apps are available for use in the Library.
Parental Consent
All children's cards issued by the East Islip Public Library, at any point in the past of future, will provide access to the Internet unless the minor child's parent or legal guardian refuses Internet access for their child by signing a Parental Internet Opt-Out form. This form is available at the Children's Services desk. |
