A Message from the Board of Trustees:

The East Islip Library is forever changing to better meet the community’s wants and needs. Recently we converted a back office space, which allowed us to create a new meeting room. With a grant from Senator Boyle and former Senator Croci, this space has a state-of-the-art sound system and we have purchased an interactive Smart TV. In addition, through grants, we have changed out most of the library’s lighting to LED fixtures and purchased new Early Literacy computers for our Children’s Room. I would also like to acknowledge John and Linda Bohlsen and their family for their tremendous financial support of our programing. We hope you will visit the library on Tuesday, April 2nd to vote on our proposed budget for the coming year. The proposed budget is a result of our effort to provide quality library service while, at the same time, controlling cost increases as much as possible. This budget has one of the lowest increases we have ever proposed. At 0.75%, the total increase for the average household in our district would be approximately $3.22 for the entire year. This is $58,216 below the tax levy limit imposed on the library by New York State. We thank you for your continued support and ask you to come out and vote on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Open Seats on the Library’s Board of Trustees:
For this budget vote / election there will be two open seats on the Library’s Board of Trustees. One opening is for a five-year term and the other opening is to fill the remainder of Mr. Montuori’s term of approximately a year and a quarter. If you are interested in running for one of these positions, petitions are due at the library on or before Monday, March 4th. For more information or to pick up a petition, please speak to someone in our Public Relations Office or call 631-581-9200 ext. 3.
