A MESSAGE FROM YOUR LIBRARY DIRECTOR:
For almost twenty-five years I have served as your library director. And, through your support, we have been able to transform your library into the amazing facility it is today. When I arrived here in January of 1999, I entered a facility that hadn’t been updated since it’s construction in 1966. There were a couple of DOS based computers for the public, inaccessible book stacks and a small meeting room in the basement. With the Board of Trustees’ vision and your support we purchased two adjacent properties and you approved a major expansion / renovation project. Finishing that project in 2005, we have continued to grow together and adapt to this ever changing world. After much thought and reflection, I realized that it is now my time to move on. In mid-September I will be retiring to pursue my other passions: photography, travel, and endurance sports. Being here for all these years, the library feels like home, and the staff and some of you like family. The library will always be a part of me. Rest assured that with my departure, your library will continue to provide the great services you have come to expect. The staff here are dedicated and professional, and the Library’s Board of Trustees has hired a qualified librarian, Matthew Wuthenow, to fill my shoes. Please consider joining Matt and me at a welcoming / farewell reception at the library on Friday, September 8th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. Thank you for all your support over the years. You, and this place, will be missed! Sincerely, -Guy Edwards
